Taner Mert – Artist, born in 1972 in Balchik, began his artistic voyage after delving into the realm of interior design. Influenced by the magnetic charm of pop art and deeply inspired by the works of Andy Warhol, Mert initially expressed his creative flair through pencil sketches, capturing the essence of his inner circle. However, Mert’s artistic trajectory took a significant turn with the unveiling of his first oil painting on canvas, “Little Girl with a Horse in the Heart of Nature” – a moment brimming with both excitement and apprehension. Remarkably, this debut masterpiece was swiftly acquired within a mere 15 minutes, exceeding all financial expectations. Determined to carve his niche in the art world, Mert immersed himself fully in painting, embarking on a quest for distinct recognition. Employing a meticulous technique, he skillfully wields a putty knife to apply paint, resulting in a style often reminiscent of pointillism, drawing comparisons to esteemed artists such as Sisle and Seurat. Mert’s portfolio includes several pieces paying homage to legendary artists like Picasso’s “The New Moon Kisses the Old Moon” and Vermeer’s “The Woman with a Pearl Earring.” Infused with Mert’s signature “Tannerism,” characterized by a unique application of paint, these works have found homes among discerning private collectors. With an unwavering commitment to preserving the integrity of his artistic identity, Mert relentlessly endeavors for each creation to be distinct yet instantly recognizable. His ultimate aspiration? To establish himself as a globally esteemed artist, celebrated for the inherent value of his creations. The culmination of Mert’s artistic endeavors has been showcased through three solo exhibitions in Samokov since 2016, followed by presentations in various cities across Bulgaria, including Sofia, Sliven, Blagoevgrad, Plovdiv, Ruse, Dupnitsa, and beyond. His paintings adorn collections worldwide, spanning countries such as the USA, Italy, the Netherlands, Qatar, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Turkey. In Germany, a devoted admirer has dedicated an entire wall as the “Tanner Mert Wall,” adorned with approximately 20 of his masterpieces. Similarly, an esteemed connoisseur in Italy boasts a collection featuring eight paintings by the artist. Additionally, numerous prominent figures within Bulgaria proudly own captivating artworks by Mert.
